Welcome back! It is good to see businesses reopening their doors and growing the economy again. We wanted to inform you of a few matters that may affect your business as you start hiring and recalling workers. Most of our clients are required to complete new hire reporting and E-verify. Below are links to help you stay compliant, as we all have many changes to work through.
Regarding new hire reporting, if you hire a new employee or recall an employee, you are required by the state to report this. If you recall a worker and they refuse work, we recommend you report this, but it is not a requirement. For more information on new hire reporting, click here. If you received PPP funds, we highly recommend proper reporting and maintaining all records of communication and actions taken in employee files.
E-verify is also a requirement for many employers, as mentioned in the link above. During this time, while many local government buildings have been closed, some of your new hires may have expired identification. Policies have been put in place at this time to allow workers with expired documents to still be able to work. For more information on this guidance, please click here.
